Hello to you. I’m Anna. It so happened that I had to work as an interpreter in an Italian Academy of Grooming and my post is about a beginner groomer.

Usually I wake up at 7.20 but today I have to be at work by 9 so I sleep for a bit longer.

I wake up, take a shower and have breakfast. Then feed my dog and take him for a walk.

My most beloved person on Earth is leaving for work.

And I’m still sleepy.

This is the academy. I got here by my bicycle and it took me less than 10 minutes.

Students are coming up. That small little dog is the dog of our teacher (the woman in red).

It’s 9.30. To become a groomer, you should study for at least three months (dog’s and cat’s anatomy, peculiarities of skin and hair…). At the end of the course you have to take a test, theory, then practice, and only then the student becomes a professional groomer.

Our models.

Meet Perfetta. She’s an Italian champion.

Tonya is carefully combing Perfetta. She has to comb her hair first, then cut the hair between her little fingers, wash her, and dry her with a hair drier.

One more Yorkshire terrier. I don’t remember his name, unfortunately.

This is Lulu. Judges usually don’t really like this hair color…

This is Gabrielle, one of the best students. He’s going to open his own beauty salon for dogs after he finishes his studying.

Lily.

Loran is ready for a bath. If the dog’s hair is fine, they wash it with regular shampoo. If there are some problems with hair or skin, they put special healing clay or masks on the dog. After the shamroo they have to apply hair conditioner.

A groomer has to check out the dog’s ears and clean them, if necessary.

This is Mayor.

Loran is old and some of his teeth fell out. That’s why his tongue is sticking out sometimes.

Meanwhile, Tonya’s washed Perfetta and is going to dry her.

A hair drier.

Mayor is also being dried.

Lena starts working with scissors.

David may run away so the groomers have to hold him tightly.

The teacher explains how to use the shaving set.

Lily in the bathtub. The groomer is going to make her a soft massage for a while.

The groomer is about to tie a bow.

Me.

The groomer is cutting Lily’s nails.

It’s time for lunch!

The dog’s mummies.

The academy from the outside.

This is a small restaurant where students usually have their lunch.

They smoke despite all prohibiting signs.

Back to work.

It’s important to hold the scissors correctly so your hands don’t get tired. Monik demostrates it visually.

Check out Loran! He’s ready!

And this is Perfetta after her spa.

Lulu with a bow.

We all are a bit tired.

This lady with a huge experience in dog breeding tells students how to tie curlpaper.

Gabrielle’s fooling around.

A photo to remember this day by.

And it’s 5 p.m. already.

Cleaning up the place and going home.

I park my bicycle near my house.

Ronny has been waiting for me and is very happy that I’ve come.

Some fresh yogurt for dinner.

Then I go upstairs to edit the photos.

Studying for my test in animal virosis.

Then I wash my face and go to bed.

Good night.
Thanks for spending this day with me!
