Hello to all reading my post!
I’m Olga, I’m 26 years old and it’s been a week since my husband and I moved to Edmonton, Canada.
Right now I’m just trying to get used to the new city and new life but want to show you one day of my life in Kiev. I named the post ‘crazy squirrel’ because everyone knows the expression ‘run round like a squirrel in a cage’ and that’s who I was that day.
Welcome to my day!
Kiev, 12.12.11.

I planned to wake up at 8 but my grandma who was visiting me said she needed a frying pan and couldn’t find it…

This bear is the first thing I see in the morning.

The weather’s not perfect yet…

I turn on my laptop to find out the address of the place I had to go to first and at the same time I check my e-mail.

My first destination point is…

The alarm clock!

It’s time to take a shower.

I decide to eat something nourishing for breakfast because who knows when I will have an opportunity to eat again today.

A quick smoking break.

Fixing my face…

Off we go!

This gloomy sight is what I see for the last several months. Unfortunately, I don’t have trotyl.

I go to the bank because I’m going to need cash.

Today, I’m going to change a lot of yellow buses.

Pochtovaya Square. I like this place, especially in the morning.

‘Funicular’.

That yellow thing in the distance is ‘Zakhary’ floating crane which turned over.

It’s 10 o’clock.

Mikhailovskaya Square with its monuments.

St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery.

Here I wanted to buy tickets for the plane but it turned out that they would be ready in a couple of hours but at 11, I have to be at my dentist’s eliminating consequences after my fight with asphalt.

What an ugly Christmas tree!

I couldn’t help buying a lattee.

In the bus.

Heading to my dentistry I see this: a long line to the American Embassy.

My dentistry.

Behind this door, there is an evil… pardon me, kind and friendly dentist.

I’m early.

This is the man who’s going to save my tooth.

Heading to Lvov Square.
While I was having my tooth done, I received a call and learnt that the tickets were ready but they had a lunch break until 2 p.m. which meant that I had a lot of free time.
Apart from the tickets, today I have to take my long-awaited resident visa that’s why this day is very special for me.

How old is this house I wonder?

This stork is at least 20 years old.

One of the banks of Kiev has this beautiful reflection of the house standing opposite to it.

Another time-check.

Probably, I’ll go to a cafe to have a cup of tea.

This is some sort of an aero cafe.

Facebook and tea is all I need to while away the time.

One of the clients of the cafe.

It’s time to go for the visa.

The Canadian Embassy.

30 minutes later they began letting people in. But I forgot that my passport was with my tickets and I had to take my tickets first!
The squirrel keeps running!

Another bus stop.

Khreshchatyk Street.

Here, I finally took my passport and tickets.

And now back to the Embassy! I have to be there before 4 p.m.

Here it is. This time they did let me in.

I did it all not in vain!

But that’s not all and the day’s not over yet. Since I fly away soon, I won’t need my cellphone number anymore and want to leave it for my mother. So, I have to go to the office of the mobile company and before that I call my mom to ask her to come there too.

On my way.

A monument to Chkalov, an aircraft test pilot and Hero of the Soviet Union.

A burattino.

I’m close!

Mom’s not here yet so I buy a cup of coffee.

Here’s my mom!

Waiting in the line…

My mom was the first person to read their endless contract.

Heading home.

We drop in at a store to buy some food to celebrate the day!

The last yellow bus for today.

I was at home at…

Checking out if anything important happened while I was away.

Serving the table.

I usially surf the Internet before sleep.

Showertime!

Thank’s for spending this day with me!

From Kiev to Edmonton? Wow, that’s quite the move. It looks like Kiev has more beauty within one block than the entire city of Edomonton does in total.
