What Does It Mean To Work For The Government

Hello, everyone! My name is Masha, I am 29 years old. I was born in Kamchatka but I have been staying in Tver for 17 years already. I work from Monday to Friday for the government of the Tver region and today I offer you an opportunity to see what my working day is like. Lazy people and those who love vast fields and forests are better to skip the post as staying at the office all day long can lead to your suffocation.

Today I got up later than usual which means that though I won’t be late for work I won’t have time to wash my head.

I hate waking up in the morning and I can not get used to the fact though I have to do this since the time I remember myself.

I wear warm clothes.

And hurry up to the bathroom.

I brush my teeth.

This is my dog Bax, he hates waking up early in the morning as well but stands up in spite of that just to show me his loyalty.

I switch on TV.

Some makeup.

Bax came back to the bed to sleep.

I choose what clothes to wear in the evening.

My colleague is calling and offers to give me a lift.

I am ready.

‘Bax,you can stay where you are and sleep’.

The colleague of mine. He is wondering why I am taking photos of him now when we are about to be late for work.

We are 6 minutes late.

This is where I work.

My door.

My comfortable working place.

This is my boss.

Let’s switch on the heater.

And then the monitor.

First and foremost, I need to report my boss’s plans to the governor.

Now I can have breakfast.

I like bright stickers as they cheer me up.

These are letters to our citizens which were packed by me yesterday.

I need to make reports summing up results of the work done.

“Perfect mood”

I will work with the papers today.

Every document must be registered.

Scans are necessary so that we could be able to find any data in 5 years.

I meet so many people every day. I must help all of them and I don’t have a right to be rude even if you have to explain the same thing hundreds times.

The working place of my boss.

This is where everyone smokes.

I like the view.

I have lunch at 12:30.

But before that I need to complete my work.

Finally I file the documents.

It is 12:56, I have done everything that was planned.

I am going to the cafe. Mexican, Oriental and Japanese food.

There is the Volga river behind that yellow house.

My lunch.

The lunch is over, let us check whether I look like fine and can go back to my working place.

I am back. Any phone call is registered and controlled.

The list of papers keeps growing.

People I talk to on the phone are often rude as they think of me as a representative of the state power they are dissatisfied with. After a couple of such calls I need meditation and a glass of milk.

A Christmas tree from the receiving office of the Government.

The working day is over at 6 p.m. but we usually stay till late.

It is time to go home.

I need to walk 15 minutes to reach my house but I prefer waiting for a bus as it is too cold in the street.

My dog is happy to see me.

I take Bax for a walk and clean him after that.

I choose clothes for tomorrow. It can take 1-8 hours to do that.

Let’s watch a movie before going to sleep.

Interesting photo essay, both in the similarities and the differences. I teach High school in the United States, and I like to point out how to my students the lives of real people – not movies, not propaganda, not travelog, but reality. You live in a city that is at once, similar to Buffalo, NY, and yet, very different, also. Thank you very much for a look at your life.
