Hey!
My name is Ekaterina and I’m 32. I am a realtor. I live in French Riviera and offer you to see how 90% of Frenchmen celebrate Christmas.

Yes, we wake up at 12.30 p.m. I could say that it’s because of Christmas but I don’t want to lie to you. That’s just how we sleep.
My cellphone looks so old and shabby because this Nokia is the only cellphone that survives my little family quarrels.

The weather is great.
And there has been no Christmas miracle – I still see no snow.

Taking shower.

My new camera.
Actually, I wanted a reflex one but since the only thing I know about it is the word ‘reflex’, I decided it would be a waste of money.

After cleaning my house, I came out to pick up some lemons for our Christmas dinner.
This statue of unknown origin is here to scary my guests away.

This is the lemon tree and a crazy flower which has decided to start blossoming in December.

These are my handmade friends.

It is good that today is a holiday but I still have to work.

My husband’s reading ‘Master and Margarita’. It’s been a week and he’s covered half the book which is kind of a record for him. It took him a month to read ‘Idiot’.

Make-up.

Why do I always have to wait for my husband while he’s getting ready?

This is our street. That white house belongs to some Arab prince and I assume that that mansion for him is like a tent in the forest for us, even though it has a tennis court, huge pool and helipad. We saw him just once. His neighbors called the police because he had a party which was too loud and in front of his house there was a car that kept beeping. When the police arrived, it was Jim Kerry who came out of the car and he was drunk. They didn’t arrest him, by the way.

We’re heading to Stephan’s mom. It’s the third time I celebrate Christmas at her house and each year everything is the same, including the menu. Traditions!

But at first, we had to buy some cakes.

At Christmas, prices here are so inflated!

One of the salesladies who work at this store is overtalkative and that day it was her who served us. So we spent about 30 minutes there…

We are at a tobacco store. As you see, there is a line here. It is so because next couple of days the store will be closed.

Parking the car.

Santa Claus!
It’s about 5 p.m.

They do not put everything they have in the fridge on the table, unlike they do in Russia. Dishes are served one by one.

Stephan is making coffee for us since we didn’t have breakfast.
I’m hungry! We deliberately haven’t eaten for a couple of days.

My mother-in-law.

It’s 6 p.m. and I’m watching TV. Why did we come so early? The dinner is scheduled for 8!

I’m cutting lemons for salmon.

Stephan’s brother and his family arrived. It is a tradition to bring flowers to the hostess of the house at Christmas.

Discussing latest news, boasting in front of each other… On other words, doing what all people do on a day like this.

Champagne and appetizers. I feel better now!

The worst thing about baking a turkey is that you have to pour it with broth every 10 minutes, otherwise it will be dry.

Another bottle of champagne. This time it is rose.

So, this is traditional dish number one: light salted salmon. It is delicious.

Foie gras (I cut it this thick on purpose).

A family photo.

It looks like the child hasn’t eaten for a couple of days either!

This is what’s left after that huge turkey…

I’m so full, you can cook me as well.

That’s not all. Now it’s time for a salad and cheese.

The kids kept asking about presents so we asked them to leave the room and put presents under the Christmas tree.

I can tell you, this cake was worth our 30-minute communication with that lady from the store.

Berry ondant cake.

She wanted a Nintendo 3D in pink but we didn’t find it.

Reading an encyclopaedia – a present from the grandmother.

In the encyclopaedia I’ve found this pregnant cat!

Now it’s time for coffee and almond paste with dried friuts. As you see, we are not that exited to eat anymore.

Fooling around.

It’s about 1 a.m. and Stephan’s brother is leaving because the children have to go to bed.

And we stay here.

In fact, it was me who did the dishes and my husband was just posing.

Finally, I can wash my face!

Playing domino. I won, by the way.

Good night!
