Hello! My name’s Eugenia! I wanna share one sunny day of mine that I spent in Slovenian Istria – 31st October.
Together with my 2 years old daughter I moved to this wonderful country last spring, so it is the first time we can adore local fall colors.
Thanks to our daughter morning comes to our house at 8 am. Usually husband gives me a special present every day – an opportunity to have my sleep out. But today I decided to photograph our awakening so I was the first to open my eyes.
Dishevelled husband is photographed, daughter is given a banana and permission to watch cartoons. My eyes are heavy… Muffling up in a plaid I fall asleep, what is photographed by husband in response ))
Later I finally got up and went to fulfill my connubials, but don’t be under illusion – I mean breakfast only. As today is October, 31st, day off in Slovenia, husband is not going to work, I can serve sandwiches and hot rolls. So I take half-finished rolls, put them in a stove, set the timer and rush to daughter wanting to check what she’s doing. She, in her turn, doesn’t waste time, smears a new tablecloth in ink, rolls it up. I have to photograph this!
And suddenly I remember I must congratulate granny with her birthday. We hastily learn a phrase with daughter: “Granny, we congratulate you! Love you!” We call and give her our warm words. Husband comes from the bathroom and I tell him what a good girl our daughter is! Strange smell takes me back to reality – I realize that the rolls are burning! Husband said I had to photograph it and only at this moment the timer worked. )
Upon breakfast we realized our Halloween idea. We have nice neighbours, elderly Slovenian couple, who treated our baby to fruits from their garden all summer long. And we made up our minds to present them a couple of funny pumpkins made from oranges.
Ready! We trained a bit to produce evil sounds and went to give the neighbours the funny oranges.
Work hard play hard. So we went to play and have fun outside.
My dear is enjoying her present given in return.
And this is me!
I have to mention I love being photographed. But being a photographer I love more. So further you won’t see many pictures of me.
Meanwhile our little beauty has fallen asleep and we may have a walk. So we are heading to that tall tower – the heart of the old city.
Look how “crowded” the streets at the weekend! )) It’s not about siesta, Slovenia doesn’t have such a tradition though Italy is 20 minutes from here. Purely because most of Slovenes do not spend weekends at home or in town, they do favorite sport: hiking, cycling, jogging, swimming, kayak-paddling, sailing, etc.
On the photo above – a nutria from the local river. There are a lot of them here – in my opinion it shows the good state of ecology in the area and cordiality of locals.
Entrance to the old city. Here we’ll drink cappuccino. Local cappuccino is the same espresso we got used to, but with milk.
The main square. In summer it is crowded with tourists, but in fall it’s empty and silent – I like it.
As I have already mentioned it’s a holiday today, and Slovenes do not work on holidays, as well as local shops, restaurants and most cafes. Dinner time is close and we don’t want to go back on such a sunny day. We can hardly find an open restaurant at one of the hotels and have a tasty dinner there.
After dinner daughter became frolicsome, it seems she is ready to plunge into her favorite sea…
At home we draw and play. Daughter can’t still decide if she wants to be a right or a left hand person. )
While I am writing for my blog, daughter is taking pictures…
Getting ready to sleep
And when daughter falls asleep time of family romance begins. Time to put the camera aside, turn the PC off and give a loving look to husband… ))
