Hello everybody!
I’m Irina from Moscow. I mean I was born in Yekaterinburg, grew up in Krasnoyarsk, lived in the Moscow Region and Moscow. Right now I live in the city of Grand Forks, ND, but soon I will have to go back to Saint Petersburg.
I’m 21 and I’m a cultural ambassador which means that I have to study at the university in the USA and persuade people that I don’t drink vodka and I have a water supply system in the city I’m from.
I also take a training course in court but I can’t bring my camera in there.
I want to show you how I spent this February 9th, 2012.
Welcome to my day!

I can hardly open my eyes this early!

I had some water, washed my face and brushed my teeth, grabbed my rucksack and ran outside.

It was cold and dark.
It usually takes me about 7 minutes to get to the wellness center.

It was 6 in the morning and the gym was full of people. But that guy had to play basketball all alone.

Sorry, I don’t look that good in the morning but know how to use Paint.

My yoga class ended at 6.45.

I was so hungry when I came home! I had some fresh pineapple and two cups of green tea with blueberries. It’s not that I want to lose weight… I just love blueberry.

I always read something when I drink tea. That day I was reading a book I took from the library because I just liked the cover. As you see, the last time someone took it was in 1969.

The book was good. What was weird about it was this picture…

Heading back to the dormitory (I use one of the underground passages).

It’s 7.34 I guess?

My door. Mikaila is the girl I share the room with.

I took shower quickly.
I don’t like makeup by the way.

My hair looked terrible because of the shower so I had to plait it.

It was 8 a.m.

My first class started at 9.30 but I had to go to the library first. I had to do some exercises but the Internet kept distracting me! I checked my e-mail and read news.

I had to get back to French.

Last semester, the puzzle was much better.

My first class was religion.

I’d go there…

We watched movies about Catholic universities and hospitals, about contraception and cesarean section and then discussed them. We also discussed same-sex marriages. We always discuss same-sex marriages because our teacher is a priest and a lesbian.

At 10.45 I went to a cafeteria to have a bite.

Apart from their regular menu, they offer 8 kinds of pizza, sandwiches, burritos, burgers, soups, desserts. I love their macaroni pizza. Taco-rizza and chips pizza are also very unusual. Crab sticks sushi and chocolate pudding are also on the menu.

Their salad-bar.

Reading again. I use an envelope as a bookmark.

I had very little time left for my French.

Every day I choose the word of the day. That day it was ‘gutsy’.

My favorite workplace.

It took me 20 minutes to do exercises in French. Then I had to go to the opposite end of our campus. Check out that guy in the upper photo who dressed up for St. Valentine’s Day!

It was a phycology class but it took place in the geology department.

There is a museum here!

I was one of the first to come.

My yesterday’s lecture notes…

After that, we played a game.

My classmates loved this picture I drew.

My team didn’t win but we still were presented with some candies.

Another class took place in this room.

That’s what I saw in the hall.

Heading back to the dormitory.

I have a great cellphone! I bought it for just $18!

That’s the room I live in (while my roommate is out).

I called my sponsor to talk about my scholarship – everything was Ok, I just had to e-mail him some documents – and headed to the store.

Me.

I’m the only person in the dormitory who doesn’t use the elevator.
I tried to play that piano once.

I decided to go to a store in downtown. It took me about 40 minutes and I didn’t take many photos because it was cold and all the streets on my way looked about the same.

I passed some 10 churches and one of them shared its entrance with a night club.

Good idea.

This store sells old comic books and vinyl records.

I got some sunflower and flax seeds because I love adding seeds into salads. I also got some soap because for some reason I’m allergic to 99% of local shampoos.

By the way, some part of the city is situated in Minnesota. It’s funny!

It is broken?

I headed home.

This is a medical department of the university. I had to use its scanner.

I headed to a cafeteria again.

$15? Oh, yes, that’s a lot!

It’s a different cafeteria as you see.

I don’t like dressings so I just “sprinkled” it with some seeds. I also had three cups of green tea.

This is where ‘sorority’ girls live.

Back in my room.

Cleaning up the table, I found these earphones. Aren’t they cute?

I like to do a cleanup to the music.

When my room was clean, I got down to fo my homework. It was French again. I tried to read a book in French, but it was too difficult for me.
I also had a couple of apples.

Usually, I take a shower before going to sleep but that day I decided to do it earlier.

I had to go to do the laundry and I needed some coins.

Each washing lasts for 30 minutes but I don’t think it’s enough so I wash my clothes twice. I use eco friendly laundry detergent.

I surfed the Internet and then decided to rewrite my diaries. I’ve written 8 diaries while I travelled thoughout the United States. Why rewrite? Didn’t you see my lecture notes?
I realized that I had to return this book to the library the next day.

I love reading!

I went to the library again.

Does this photo look clumsy?

Brodsky? Interesting…

This is a section of Russian literature in the library.

I found Brodsky’s book of poems and read it. It was great.

I’m holding a book by Dovlatov. At home I have a book just like that. It’s a present from my dad.

“Difficulties in the Russian language”.
It consists of difficulties only!

Going home.

Yes, I eat before sleep.

I watched Eternal Sunshine for a while…

Then I called my mom.

I always use a dental floss before sleep and comb my hair with a bamboo comb. I hope my hair will look better and grow faster!
Sleep tight!
