Working Mother Of Two In London

Hello! My name is Tatiana. I live and work in London. I have two sons. My younger son is just 4 months old and my older son is 2 years old. A couple of weeks ago the period of my maternity leave ended and I returned to work. I’m a financier and have a part-time job. I work a lot at home too.

So, it’s Wednesday, February 8th, 2012.

That day I woke up at 2 a.m. to feed my baby. Next time my son got hungry at 5 a.m. and then at 6. That time it was terminal. I got up and saw the light in my mom’s room and brought Misha to her. She came for a visit to help me take care of my kids. My son is super positive. He always wakes up and starts smiling. I don’t think I will ever be able to get angry with him.

I returned to bed and fell asleep. At 7.30 my older son woke up and went to my mother’s room too. I was going to bring all those toys to the attic but never did. I bought that stuffed sheep because they offered a 75% discount…

Philip likes playing with four toys from his crib – a soft cat, two bears and a dog named Philya from a popular Russian TV program for children.

I fell asleep again and twenty minutes later my alarm clock rang. I was to receive a conference-call at 8 a.m. I sometimes have to work this early (or late) because I often work with former Soviet countries and Canada. I taked for about 30 minutes and made my bed.

That’s our backyard with what’s left after a show castle.

I came downstairs and had a cup of tea with a muffin. I gave Philip some grapes.

In the photo you can see my mom playing with her grandchildren. Philip had had breakfast without me and was waiting for me to dress him.

Then I weighted myself and was happy to find out my scale showed less than 70 kg. It was probably my exercise I resumed after a break I took when I was pregnant.

While I was breast-feeding Misha, my older son decided to have a ride in his brother’s stroller. Then Misha dozed off and I left him with a radio nanny.

I took a shower and then brushed my teeth together with Philip.

While my mom was playing with Philip, I made him dinner, dried my hair, put on some makeup and joined their game. Then I returend to the kitchen and made lunch for myself to take with me to the office. It was some chicken soup and a salad. The salad had no meat and I decided to fry a couple of chicken breasts – half for me, half for Philip and half for my mom.

I took some lactose-free milk (when I eat original milk, Misha has terrible stomach upsets).

I asked my mom to photograph me with a scarf she gave me as a present. I love it.

Our neighborhood. Temperature was about 0C and it was so slippery to walk on the sidewalk!

It was 11. I jumed onto the subway train and headed to my dentist. I was going to be late…

Now we can cross the streets diagonally like they do in Japan.

I love my dentist! When I lived in Russia, I had my fillings changed and teeth drilled all the time. Now I enjoy visiting my dentist because my teeth turned out to be not that bad at all!

Bicycles for rent. They were introduced by the mayor.

I had lunch and drank a cappuccino with lactose-free milk. On my way home I dropped in at Next to buy new socks for my older son because he overgrew his old ones. I noticed some cool underpants with pictures of cars and helicopters and decided to get them too.

Oh, this never-ending reparation!

When I came home from work, I saw my mom holding my smiling son. My husband and Philip went to the pool and called me saying Philip wanted beans for dinner. He fell in love with beans once he tasted them at an open buffet and often asks me to make some.

My husband and son came home from the pool.

Feeding Philip with beans and chicken plus some berries for a dessert.

Usually, our kids bath together but Philip doesn’t like to bath after swimming in the pool. As for Misha, he loves bathing, especially when my husband holds his head so he can shake his legs.

Philip chose me to go brush his teeth with and I put him to bed. I hardly managed to make him wear a diaper – he wanted to wear his new underpants with cars. Then I breast-fed Misha and put him to bed too. It was 8.20 p.m.

My husband and me went to the kitchen to have a cup of tea but found Italian dumplings in the fridge and ate them instead. I made some sauce of eggplant, pepper, mushrooms and tomato paste. Then we started house hunting. We need to move to a place with a good school nearby because our older kid is going to go to school when he turns 4. We didn’t find anything interesting and I went to bed. Misha woke up at 11.30 and I had to feed him again. A couple of hours later my new day began!
