One Festive Day in Izhevsk

Hello. I’m Volya. I’d like to tell you about the 2nd of March,2012 I spent with Paterson in Izhevsk, the first Russian city he saw after leaving his Salvador. He often told me about it and I wanted to see it. So, we went there. We planned nothing for that day and everything you’ll see is an improvisation.

We came to Izhevsk late at night and slept for a long time. By the way, we stayed at our friends’ place.

The time we woke up.

The map of Izhevsk. Paterson told me where he had already been.

The view from our window.

I asked Olga how to make handmade soap.

Flags.

Looking through our passports showing visas of the countries we’ve visited.

Drinking tea.

Olya shows us photos from China.

One more cat.

We also have maps at our flat.

Olya and cats. Sergey is working at the window.

And we decided to have a walk. The first point of our destination, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Church.

We’re and Cathedral.

We were hungry and decided to have dinner. Everything was tasty.

Beautiful interior

and me, full and happy.

We go out and walk around the city.

Like in St.Petersburg, isn’t it?

Children came.

It’s windy and snowy in the street.

Izhevsk Pond, the largest artificial pond in Europe.

The monument to armourers. Here, in Izhevsk, Kalashnikov made his AK -47.

We’re at the Udmurt National Theatre, deciding what to watch.

We’re still thinking what performance to choose? Russian or Udmurt.

We chose the Udmurt one. We have an hour before the beginning of the performance. Let’s have a walk.

It says that Kalashnikov worked here.

Near the theatre.

In the theatre.

The performance will begin soon.

Some pictures of the performance.

Intermission.

Show must go on)))

The performance is over.

We’re in the theatre hall watching national Udmurt clothes.

One FDay in Izhevsk

At the shopping mall “Petrovsky” where we met a friend of Paterson.

The building of Udmurt government.

Then we had a good time walking among ice sculptures and chuting.

Some more pictures of local sights and architecture.

Museum of Kalashnikov. It’s too late to visit it.

St Mikhail Cathedral and us)

Then we visited Paterson’s friend, drank tea and talked a lot.

Late at night, about 1 am, we came to our hostel.

Here we are, but our bed is occupied))

So, that’s our day in Izhevsk. Thanks and good night!
