Hello everybody!
My name is Anna. This month I’ll turn 26. I’m a journalist. I make videos on socially significant topics. I want to show how I spent my day-off. For 4 years I lived in the outskirts of Kiev but my dream’s come true! Not long ago, I moved to downtown Kiev! My friend and I rent a one-bedroom apartment and it’s great! I’m totally in love with this city and I hope it loves me too.

I set my alarm to wake me up even though it was a day-off.

But then I dozed off and woke up at…

I weigh myself every morning but I don’t want to tell you this little secret of mine.

I didn’t find anything suitable for breakfast…

So I decided to make some pasta.

I drink ginger tea with milk and honey and I hope you do too!

My breakfast.

Asya, my friend, did the dishes.

I washed the floors and got down to polishing my nails.

Then I arranged a meeting with a friend.

I made some cocoa.

I think my nails look good.

That’s what we see from the kitchen. It looked like it was about to rain…

So my cocoa was very much to the point. I also wanted to sleep again.

Our kitchen is small but cozy.

I brought this shower curtain from Denmark a couple of years ago. It matches the apartment perfectly.

My room is small but cozy too. I don’t like cleaning so I always have to fight with a mess in my room.

I’d dried my hair and started putting on makeup. In that photo you can see Emir Kusturica. It was taken in 2007 and since then this person has been influencing my life.

Hey!

See the difference?

I like perfume and I carry one in my purse that’s why it looks this shabby.

I like girls’ stuff.

I got this teddy bear 100 years ago! It likes travelling with me no matter where I go.

This is a present from Sweden.

My family.

It’s my mom and me (I checked if I had enough cash).

First of all, I headed to the ticket offices situated near my place.

I was going to buy a ticket to Kryvy Rih, the city I’m from.

I take this street to go to work but that day it was different.

Famous surgeon Amosov’s lived in this building for 30 years. I didn’t know that.

Kiev’s beautiful when it’s raining!

The opera house. It looked like they were preparing for some event in the evening.

That’s a new cafe I haven’t been to before. You don’t pay for food here. You pay for the time you spend here.

Standing in the line to get a coffee.

Each client is given an alarm to later check how much time he/she spent in there.

WiFi, music… life’s good!

Guys at a neighboring table played chess.

I like that place.
I had to keep going. It was a day-off but some people worked…

The Saint Sophia Cathedral. How anybody could want to lay hands on it?

A monument to Khmelnytsky.

I was heading to a meeting to stop government from building something elite and expensive (as usual) at one of the city’s recreation areas.

One of the elite communities. It was built not long ago and people who bought apartments here got in real trouble because, as far as I know, one year ago there was no water supply and heating there.

That’s the recreation area they want to destroy! It’s full of beautiful fountains and it’s perfect for walking and playing with kids!

A rock band played during the meeting.

How can they even think about demolishing this?

Those are guys from Kryvy Rih. They are my fellow-townsmen.

This is a popular painter Kadyrova. She danced in the rain.

I decided to take a walk around.

The Saint Andrew’s Church.

They are preparing for Euro 2012.

Here you can buy all kinds of souvenirs.

My friend called so I had to go.
Yet I decided to take a photo of this monument which is believed to be the ugliest in the city. I like it.

On my way.

Ira is one of those friends who you don’t see for ages and then call them and they come over in the middle of the night and you party and eat chocolate candies together until dawn.

I decided to show Ira the cafe I’d been to that day. While she was standing in the line, I checked my Facebook account.

Someone played the piano there!

Just people in the cafe.

Ira looks lile a teenager but she is an editor-in-chief. She works for a sports magazine.

Kiev in the evening.

I had to go to a grocery store because I had enough pasta that day.

I went to the one that is situated near my place.

That’s what I got.

I was happy because I had wine and cabbage!

At home.

Some time later Ira went home and I looked forward to going to bed.

Asya had a friend who came over too.

In the bathroom.
By the way, I got an electric toothbrush the other day and I love it.

That’s what I look like before going to bed.

Hope you liked my report!
Bye!

What are you waiting for? Make photos of your day and send them in!

About 3/4 of the way through your day there is a picture with the caption underneath that says “I decided to take a walk around.”
I’m curious what the building is in the picture above that caption. Specifically I am curious about the small statues that are around the building right next to the wall. Do you know the story about what those statues mean?
It’s hard to see them in the picture but I visited Kiev in 2006 and remember seeing that building with the statues.

Thanks for the nice report! Last winter I visited Kiev for 5 days and I really like the city. It has very different places, from the beautiful Saint Sophia cathedral, till the hectic Troieschina market, just love it. I was wondering, where is that cafe where you pay for the time you spend there? I’m curious about it! How is the cost of life in the center of Kiev for the average Ukrainian citizen?
Living in the center of Kiev, I’m jealous haha!:)
Greetings from the Netherlands!
