Hello! I am Natalya, a veterinarian. I live in the Moscow region with my husband and two cushion-cats. This was my ordinary hasty workday – April, 20th, 2012.

Friday. This morning starts late. Husband has already left to work and I am still idling.

Two cats are awake with me: the older one goes to look for food, the younger joins me in the bathroom. Then we all have breakfast.

I don’t have much time so do everthing fast and leave. It takes me 20-30 minutes to go there. Daily I spend 10-12 hours at work. So I can spruce myself up there.

Another hungry cat is waiting for me there. She started to live with us half a year ago and now I cannot imagine the sofa without this relaxed body and its  loud sounds.

10 am. The first patient is staying in our hospital, it is old and sick and it’s not the case where I can put a dropping bottle aside for future.

10.30 am. Some more cats are waiting for me. Nothing difficult for today – sterilization and castration. Everything is ready.

The first cat to be operated on its body side. Its weight is alomost 7 kg. The owner was waiting behind the door during the operation and then tenderly took her, straining to bosom left.

11.30 am. I feel coffee smell but now can only dream about it. While the operating room is being under blue light I go to feed the rabbits. They are huge and love human hands very much. The white boy is the most affectionate.

11.50 am. Getting two cats ready. Mom is going to be the first. Everything goes fine. While the elder one lies in a cage the second one is fixed on the table.

1.00 – 1.30 pm. Time to rest. I drink coffee, sometimes combine it with cacao. Now I need some energy.

In the operation room again. This time the cat is young and everything goes fast.

2.20-3.30. I am awaited in the reception room. The cat hasn’t been able to pee for a week. Its bladder is full and the cat has been lying as a duster and has only one wish. And its dream will come true now. We use a catheter to help it. The cat is happy. But its owner aren’t – they know what urolithiasis means.

The next is a cat again. It was here 2 weeks ago with a rupture and was successfully operated on. Today it came to take out stitches. The owners gave it much valerian in order it wouldn’t worry.

A kitten one day old. Children has found it in a bag near a trash-can. All the family has come to know how they can save it.

15.30. Call – a drunk neighbour has shot at the dog. I am rushing. It turns out that the dog has been lying injured on the roof not for the first day. Have to climb and apply first aid on the roof.

4.30 Sterilization of the dog.

5.30. I am leaving the operating room and realize I won’t be able to sit – a rabbit is brought. For castration. He likes the owner’s legs and their cat too much…

6.30. In the reception room a wet cat meets me. While I was away they used my basin. Some people are afraid of washing their pets and this one, judging by the smell, needed to be washed.

7.30. The working day will end soon. I want to leave in time because have a lot to do at home. Filling in the journals.

Then I clean in the operating room.

I wash the floor and turn quartz lamps on. Have to clean the reception room too, but later. I do everything myself, because I do not like to put work on shoulders of others, besides i trust myself more.

Evening is time for vaccinations. Necessary questions, measuring temperature, filling in journals, injections and all from the start again. In such a nice bag the first victim has come.

The second is this spitz. So tender and cowardly, licks my hands and his teeth are chattering.

Not all owners allowed to photograph their pets. This victim of vaccination was the last – wonderful Eva.

8.30. Home? Nope. We have a cat whose tail was pulled in tight with a “money” elastic band by a kind child. A week ago. They have noticed it today, 30 minutes ago, when the cat started to bite its tail off… They didn’t remove the elastic band, brought the cat with it. Have to shorten its tail now.

But training goes first! Have to stay fit.

11.30. Real rest starts. I occupy my favorite place being in my favorite gown with a laptop and a huge mug.

Eating sweets and drinking baked milk

But I am given a hint that it’s time to sleep.

Well, the cat is right, tomorrow at 8:30 all the same will start again.
