One Day of a Photographer in Mauritius

Hello! My name is Vadim Nardin, 25. I am a photographer and not only. I decided to leave Moscow for winter (though I had moved to Moscow from Minsk, Belarus recently) for Mauritius, because I hate cold and being a little boy i was dreaming of a island with palm trees and an ocean. Dreams come true. We should only believe.

This was April, 6th, my workday in Mauritius.

I was woken up by a friend’s call. I overslept because the previous day I had gone to bed late. Fixing time after bath procedures.

Checking my mailbox and social nets. I am rather active there. I try to follow the rule of 2-3 minutes. What can be done for this time should be done right now and never postponed. I deceive my stomach with yoghurt, fruits and fish sandwiches.

Usually I get up at 12 so such early getting up is rather unplesant for me. I come out to the balcony to check out the weather, it’s nice!

Then I leave and go to a bus stop. By the way, I live in the north of the island in Pereybere. Fixing time.

The taxi driver offers a ride to people who need to go in the same destination he does for the same fee they would pay in a bus.

But my way is long so i take a bus. Besides I can see something interesting on the way.

In 15 minutes the bus will be full

In buses I try to study English I have problems with. But now I am reading a book “Start up without budget”, I like it!

Outside

People of the island are positive and kind

For some reason vegetarian shops are often closed

But repair shops are always open

They have a lot of various ads

Sometimes I think that they have more bike repair shops than bike themselves…

Very very fashionable store)

They often advertise on trees

I enter the capital of Mauritius – Port Louis

Centre of the city

Looking for another bus at the station

My friend is waiting for me in Bambous

As for me, my breakfast was light!

Port Louis

I use a special program to plan a day

We are in a traffic jam. Yes, there are traffic jams in Mauritius too.

Inside the bus, do you like the bright watch of that guy?

Trading centre in Port Louis

Why are trash bins in cages? Still can’t understand it.

I catch a nice look of a local girl

Indian movie bill

I like local nature

All bus stops are different

Cane behind the bus stop, there is plenty of it in Mauritius

I like to watch local people

Do you see? This bus stop is absolutely different!

Then I understand that I am in a wrong place, there are no beauty salons or haidresser’s here.. I call the friend and it turns out I passed the necessary stop by…

I catch another bus and come to wait Katya, she’s always late

I am trying to understand what these kids eat but fail

Katya is calling to tell that her nails haven’t dried yet and father of her husband will show me the way to the hairdresser’s … It is sad cause we planned to meet at 10 …

Local schoolchildren

That very father of Katya’s husband – Arvin. He’s a nice guy, it seems he knows everyone on the island.

On the way we meet some of his relatives

And this is positive Rupa, the owner of the salon, who’s gonna cut my hair.

Inside the salon

I fix time and call Katya in order she would explain Rupa how she has to cut my hair. But later I have to explain with my poor English and gestures anyway.

I am outside, smiling school girls

Local school, they use barbed wire to probably make children’s love to knowledge stronger.

I am not going how late Katya is. But her cheese cake makes me kinder.

We are going tothe nearest place where we can make a payment via WesternUnion

But banks here do not work with WesternUnion

And this is Katya – a cute nice girl, she almost always smiles when we are together! Now I’ll move along the island faster and more comfortable.

Heading to a tourist’s place Shamarel with a waterfall and multicolored land I haven’t seen yet.

On the way Katya shows me a closed settlement with posh villas. They say that even Beckham has one here too. I am too interested what’s inside and we try to enter.

I was introduced to the guard as “Mister Vadim Nardin”, he exclaimed “Ooooh!”  with such an impression and intonation as if I am some celebrity and  let us in )) it was funny!

On the settlement’s territory there are villas, expensive cars, a restaurant, golf fields, many plants and trees. But we decided not to spend much time there and go on to Shamarel.

Here they produce salt

We have a short walk along the coast

And we buy cold water

Way to Shamarel

We make just one stop on the observation site

Tourists

They are watching the waterfall and the rainbow that is not well seen on the photo

Some fresh juice. You feel thirsty all the time here!

Turtles

And finally the local phenomenon of Mauritius – 7 colors land.

Layers of lava were getting colder at various temperatures what resulted in such wonderful phenomenon.

This guy showed us the way

Another observation site

The best place to think about life

We decided to walk on the beach

Me catching the wind with hands

Katya

Moon walk ))

It’s my first time I paint on the sand!

Hardly had i depicted the love message when the waves hid the name…

Time is 5-10pm

We are going back to Port Louis, I feel tired.

We said goodbye to each other and I went to the station

Many bright people can be met at the market.

At 6-20 it is getting darker already and at 7 it’s absolutely dark!

This funny waiter is meeting me in Pereybere)

I am at home and have much interesting to check out in the Internet.

Downloading these pictures

Reading a bit

Photos of the day

Some chatting in skype

Some work

It’s late, time to sleep!

But can’t fall asleep without some reading… Bye!
