Hello, all! I am Anastacia, a journalist. I was travelling to Mexico and decided to show you one day of mine on the Red land – May, 8, 2012.

Once in a lifetime we all have such days when we do not understand where we wake up. It was somewhere over Cuba, I guess. It was a 12 hours flight. Not everyone could fall asleep.

Early morning, airport, taxi. A nice hotel. But promised Wi Fi does not work. And there are no wall outlets… To be more precise they are not what I need…

I come out and try to find an adapter and the interenet. But I will come back only at night…
The streets are crowded, they eat meat cakes and mangoes, clean shoes… I see traffic jams, skyscrapers and noise. I feel I am not like them…

I eneter some cafe and suddenly find a guide. He’s a Mexican student. He agrees to walk with me to market Sonora. Though he has some self-interest, he studies German and wants to practise the language.

This is one of the scariest markets on Earth! Here everything sells: from Jesuses to Buddhas, from talismans to drugs… But I am just interested. My guide says he joined me because he was afraid I could be robbed here or something…

Sonora market: herbals, pumpkins, garlic and wood crosses, icons and sculptures.

Elixir helping those who have problems with justice.

Crook-neck pumpkins

Local death deity, very popular in Mexico. It’s the idol of all bandites, drug dealers, prostitutes.. They believe it can protect them from an untimely death.

Let’s visit Revolution Monument, the huge guarded structure. There is a viewing point here from where one can see the city panoramas.

We have lunch sitting on the asphalt at the monument.

We go to the main square at the Cathedral
Here people ask God for something.

What’s there? Screams, police, crowds… Some wounded perosn is in the middle of the mess… We became witnesses of a mafia skirmish…

Every 50 meters you can see police here…

We leave the place of the crime and see a political meeting… Communists oppose the social politics, low salaries and lack of peace in Mexico-city…

I say goodbye to my guide. So tired I came to the hotel…
